Description of the works.

The beautiful, expansive gardens have been created from lawns and paddocks by the private owners over the past two years, and there is more to come. From the house, where imposing steps lead down to the gardens, a sweeping drive of crushed sandstone skirts a beautiful man-made lake. The stunning soft planting scheme provides bold areas of species and colour, in keeping with the overall scale of the landscape. A sheltered area to the side of the house, adjacent to the swimming pool, has a large water feature incorporated into a high dry-stone wall and, together with the use of semi-tropical plants, this area of the gardens has a deliberately tropical feel about it.

BALI Judges’ Comments

The clients’ vision of an expansive and beautiful setting for their home that avoids being ostentatious has been wonderfully interpreted by the contractor in this breathtaking scheme. The works to date have been executed with the very highest level of skills, professionalism and dedication to the task in hand and represent all that BALI as an association strives to engender in its contracting membership and in the industry as a whole.
This is the first domestic landscaping scheme to win the Grand Award since 1997 and illustrates that vision and achievement of the very highest standards of execution is not restricted to high value commercial schemes.
